I used to have a little respect for Chris Christi because he seemed like such a real guy, an honest man, a governor who would do right for the folks in his state, no matter what. Now I learn that the farmers in New Jersey keep their pregnant pigs in gestation cages in which the animals cannot even extend their legs to their full length. They literally cannot move. There's a bill that passed the New Jersey legislature to end this brutal practice, and the bill has the support of 90% of New Jersey voters. A no-brainer, right? The gov should sign it. But he's not planning to.
Why? Because there are 2 million pigs in Iowa and the farmers there hate the law. And what's the first state to host a presidential primary? Iowa, of course.
Like Jon Stewart said last night, Christi must not know what state he's governor of. Somebody needs to remind him.
