I shot this video with a GoPro Hero3+ camera and obviously, I need to get closer to the subjects. The camera is set to 1080P but it sure looks fish-eye.
Anyway, Bob, Christine and I were at April's Gallery Night and I tried to get some video of the music being played there. Bob can be seen holding a dollar to put into a tip bucket.
If you go fullscreen with the video, it will look better.
The reason for posting this is to show that Gallery Night isn't some artsy-fartsy gathering of stuffed shirts. It is a fun time. Yeah, there are galleries open, but there are plenty of sidewalk bars open for adult beverages, the restaurants are open, and there are plenty of craft booths down by Seville Quarter.

I'm extremely impressed with the audio recording quality of that GoPro. Much better than anything I've heard done with a smartphone. For a while I've been trying to figure out how to sync smartphone video with the audio from my Zoom recorder. But that's pointless after I hear what the GoPro can do. Guess I'm gonna have to start saving up to get one.
By the way for old Pensacolians. The last segment of video is Tommy Ratchford (on the right) with Jeff Byrd and his wife. If you went to high school in Pensacola in the sixties you will remember The Laymen with Ratchford as the vocalist.

Eric,
I was just pricing GoPro's and the Hero3 is a hundred bucks less than the Hero3+. Do you happen to know how the video and audio quality compares between the two?

No, I don't know about the differences in the audio or the video. I don't think the 3 can record as high of a quality video as the 3+. The 3+ can record 4K video. My son Shaun has a GoPro3 Silver addition. Maybe we can do a comparison.
By the way, I had the watertight housing on the camera, and that keeps some sound from reaching the mic. I should have used the vented housing, as it lets more sound reach the microphone.

How long a recording time with it. Can we get the whole Zombies concert recorded?

The camera has a 64-gig card and that equates to at least 4 hours at 1080P (7 hrs at 1080P at 30 frames per second).
Electronically, the limiting thing is probably the battery. You can shoot video continuously for 2.5 hours at normal temperatures. If it is cold, run time is less. (I have 3 batteries, though)
I have several mounts that might keep it steady for the concert. I don't know if the venue will allow recording, but I'll check.

I called them and I don't think they're gonna let me record the concert. They suggested I email them requesting permission and I did that.
I'm not too optimistic.
Edit: "I'm sorry to say but the artists have a no camera policy stipulated on their contract..."

Well we'll have a pretty good audio recording of it if nothing else because I want that for my jukebox. Nobody will even see my Zoom recorder.
