Eric, are you aware that The Ventures were not the original group to record "Wipeout'? That honor goes to a group called The Surfaris.

I don't remember listening to the Ventures playing Wipeout. I had the Ventures album "Walk-Don't Run".
I remember the silly laugh at the beginning of the original Wipeout. I posted this because I stumbled upon it last night and was impressed with the drummer.

Yeah it is a good version and I too remember the silly laugh at the beginning of the original. I remember these Venture greats; Walk Don't Run, Telstar, Pipeline and of course the theme from the TV show Hawaii 5-0 which of course is still used today on the remake.

The original Surfaris. I still like the drummer for the Ventures better.

In this The Ventures have a guest drummer on Wipe-Out and it is Max Weinberg who was the drummer with Bruce Springsteen's E Street band for several years and then went on to become the band leader on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.
He is the one on the left with the Hawaiian shirt on.

Lordy, look how fast those sticks are movin'.....wow. Makes my arms ache watching it!
In the original Ventures video, the guy who is second from the right looks just like Bill Murray in his Caddyshack days. I know it's not, but the resemblance is uncanny.....facial expressions and all.
