Well I just got back from the hospital. Looks like my youngest daughter us going to have her gall bladder removed. I really thought I'd beat my kids to that surgery.

Her cystic duct is completely blocked and she is sick as he'll

I'm nervous

Who here has had this surgery?

I not nervous for when I have it and I will be having it but I'm scared now for her. They really scare the crap out of ypu before you go to have it

No, I don't need any research. Ive held a plenty of gall bladders in my hand over the years. Its a pretty simple procedure. It becomes a whole nother story when your sitting on the other side of the bed though.

They really do scare the shit out of ya. Might mess up the bile duct, that could mean multiple surgeries which we don't do here and may require you to go out of state. Might puncture the colon, if stones are stuck in the duct might have to stick a tube down your throat to go in and suck them out, or something like that.

Ive only known 2 people who got that procedure done. One, my sister who had a stone the size of a soft ball, not endoscopic due to the size and then a friend who actually had her intestines punctured and got septic. And even with that, I always considered the surgery a simple surgery due to just working with pathologist and being around surgeons talking about it. oh its just a gall bladder.

All of a sudden, its not just a gall bladder. its my daughters gall bladder and im just being a paranoid mom. Hoped to hear a good story about a easy gall bladder surgery.

My oldest daughter had to have her Gall Bladder removed at age 22. It was done endoscopically, in Birmingham. Recovery was not a problem and her bouts of severe colic resolved. She had a massive amount of stones that had completely blocked the common duct causing excruciating pain.

It is always frightening when your child, no matter what age, is sick.

I had mine out about a year ago. It was nothing compared to the shoulder surgery I had this past spring. They found tons of gallstones. The dr. said he had never seen that many. I saw the pics. It was gross.
I suppose by now your daughter's had her surgery? In any case, I hope it goes well or went well. It was really not a bad surgery at all. Some pain and soreness around the abdominal region afterward. They give you some good pain pills. I was fine after about a week. Quick recovery. They do them all of the time.
All the best!
