The Heat Empty
PostSubject: The Heat   The Heat EmptyFri Aug 15, 2014 5:12 pm

......and I"m not talking about Miami Heat. I'm talking about how danged hot it is here in Pensacola. Either I'm getting older and am more sensitive to heat, or it's been hotter this year than it has been since Hurricane Dennis in 2005.

We have an ancient house, so we still depend on window AC units. It has not been fun. And my poor garden....even my sunflowers are wilting.

Boohoooo.......!

Yeah, a couple weeks ago I told my managers that I thought it was going to be an early, bad winter. Nobody argued.

I think I'm going to buy a cot and bring a sleeping bag in to work so that I can just stay out here when it gets really bad. We have showers and everything, and I keep a bunch of food out here. Ninety-nine percent of mines have barracks, the only reason this one doesn't is because it is so close (45 minutes) to Fairbanks.

I dont know riceme, that sounds kind of dangerous.

Is there any type of heat there?

I mean I guess if its warm, it might be safer than traveling in the snow storms

What?? Of course there's heat! It gets down to -65 degrees here (plus wind chill)! Trust me, it's a hell of a lot warmer at work than it is at my house, lol. I mean, I actually have to PAY for the heat at home!

I burned a fire in my wood stove last night.  It got toasty.  I only loaded it up once, though.  It would have been unbearably hot if I had kept stoking it.
