US President Barack Obama’s authorization of airstrikes on ISIS targets in Iraq serves as an opportunity to remind ourselves which countries are bankrolling the deadly terror group.
The answer: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Turkey and Qatar – three of the United States’ biggest allies in the region.
Last night Obama announced limited airstrikes to slow the advance of ISIS fighters and help members of the Yazidi religious minority group who were forced to flee into a mountainous region in the north of Iraq to avoid slaughter.
However, the administration has failed to put pressure on several (Persian) Gulf states that are directly responsible for helping ISIS gain a foothold in Iraq in the first place.

True, but the governments are turning a blind eye to their citizens' support of ISIS. They could certainly do something to stop the funding of ISIS, but don't want to do anything that might destabilize political support within their own countries. Spineless!

| So, besides the two 500-lb bombs taking out an artillery piece, has anything else happened? | |

| Yesh, here's one of those folks funding ISIS right here. WAIT- who is that with him? OMG, that must be a photoshop.
Not one of the Bush family sucking up to a Saudi Prince even after we knew that all but one of the Twin Towers bombers was a Saudi?
Can't be. Must be a photoshop.

Nobody in that part of the world is our friend. Israel doesn't like our Secretary of State because he calls them on their military tactics. And the Saudis darned sure do not like us. Once more, we need to bring our troops home from around the world and let the world sort itself out.
One side chops heads off the the other side lobs bombs onto schools full of children. How you "get dead" is of no significance. The outcome is exactly the same. |

| Why wasn't our leadership held to account for the wars they pushed us into ? Until we hold the responsible we will live at war. They should all be in jail. | |

I agree completely. They're to blame and they always get off scot free. And yes, Obama is to blame too, though not at the beginning. At the beginning of this particular carnage it was Bush and Cheney and Rummy. But Obama has had more than enough time to get us OUT. Johnson lied us into 50,000 young Americans dying and Nixon took too much time to get us out. Here's one of the problems though Teo, it's the people. Wartime presidents are often the most popular because when we win, it gives Americans a great big high. So they're willing to take the chance with our troops lives in order to get a few pats on the back if it works. And quite frankly, the sheeples just follow and follow and follow. The idea of changing just never occurs to them. Rand Paul won't get the nomination, and I don't care for some of his domestic policies anyway. But he and his daddy are only admired by a few Americans that can see past all the ooo-rah to the truth. And it's too bad that that is just a few.

http://www.washingtoninstitute.org/policy-analysis/view/saudi-funding-of-isis Since Obama sucks up to the Saudis just like Bush did, it still applies. I just cannot imagine for the life of me why you Republicans hate him so much. He has been Bush Lite since he took office. |
