Oh no. Everybody liked him.

I remember an interview he did many years ago when he was asked if he believed in God. He said yes I do. When asked why by the interviewer he said the most honest thing I've heard anyone ever say on the subject. He said: "Because life is just too damn hard not to."

He's in a better place today.

I was talking to Bob about a Garner movie on Friday night about the time Garner passed. That's a strange coincidence.

He was a great actor that exuded confidence and easily earned the trust of his viewers.

My favorite James Garner movie was "Murphey's  Romance" which he did with Sally Field. He played a much older suitor to a young woman whose sorry but handsome  young husband had left her. I remember the movie for the last lines mostly. He said  something about how he wasn't young anymore and he had a lot of miles on him,  but he was steady, and then he said and "I'm in love for the last time in my life."
I've always remembered that line. If you've never seen the movie check it out sometimes.

It's a great love story without being "mushy" at all.

Stephen J. Cannell was one of television's most talented writers and producers.  In 1974 he teamed up with Garner to create The Rockford Files.  Rockford Files is still my all-time favorite tv series.
If you haven't ever seen it,  I encourage you to watch an episode.
Check out that ancient telephone answering machine which was featured at the beginning of every episode.
