Both parties and the White House predicted 'Doomsday' for the mandated spending cuts and sequestration....Today in a report...1....ONE  Job was LOST from 23 government agencies...All the politicians look foolish on their scare tactics to the American people...Too bad they don't get this concerned over private sector jobs....

The worker was from the Fed Parole Division. This is the loss when the White House stated that hundreds of thousands of jobs would be lost.

I have 2 sisters in D.C. who are civil service, they were told to stay home a few days (with no pay) but then were paid anyway. Essentially the "sequester" was an expensive disaster, like everything else coming out of D.C. lately. Yes, our elected idiots fail again..........Time for everyone currently holding office to be sent home.

Several lost a week...and then were repaid for that week with leave time...sick time..etc....adjusted. ...Isn't that just like the government/politicians declare disaster/gloom and doom...and ONE...1...job lost!...

The funny part is that the administration and some democrats blamed this entirely on Speaker Boehner and the radical Tea party republicans in the House...will there be apologies forthcoming?...Well except to the one individual that lost his job but he should look on the bright side...his sacrifice SAVED the government!...

It's members from BOTH parties putting their party before the taxpaying voters.. How many people from either party would have voted for the sequestration?? I don't know 1 person that supported it.....

Correct there was panic and spin from both sides...the White House and the media went into frenzy mode...It kicked in due to the inability of the Congress and the cowh to do their jobs and have the guts to make the cuts needed...A blue ribbon panel made recommendations and they were ignored...why?...Because nobody wanted cuts from their pet projects and/or their districts/states...When it came time for real leadership there was only failure all around...

Some people thought they were putting taxpayers above their politics. They knew it would be unpopular but they also knew Government needed to be cut back some.
They didn't have the guts to vote on individual cuts to the people back home so they let the sequester take effect and do the job. Government could shrink and both parties could blame each other.

On the whole, I think it's finally given the people in Washington the notion that the federal government is over employed, even in the military sector which is a huge part of the budget. We're finally seeing cutbacks in some spending and benefits that needed to be done years ago.
I think the sequester was a good event to happen. It warned of what might happen if some congressmen didn't get serious about spending.

"It warned of what might happen if some congressman didn't get serious about spending"....might want to check the list of those that want more spending and more pork...the senate majority leader and his powerful cohort in the senate applauded pork and want more back...

Oh Good Lord. So do the Republicans. It's just a matter of what pork each side wants. I still think the sequester may have woke some of our Congressmen up just a little

Jake, illegal aliens pay taxes like sales taxes, gasoline taxes, alcohol taxes and other taxes on consumables, but they don't pay income taxes, unless they assume a false identity that has a valid SSID number, and file income taxes. Some of them do, but I don't understand why.

I don't understand how in hell that they become eligible for Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, Social Security, etc.

Benevolence may be okay in a society that is flush with cash, but in our current economic times, it is inconceivable that we are handing out benefits to undocumented immigrants.

On the issue of pork neither side has the guts to do what needs to be done. In this instance it was Harry Reid and Dick Durbin the stepped from behind the curtain and said they wanted pork back to get things done. If there are Republican Lawmakers that feel the same...they are no better.
