PostSubject: NOW HRC regrets.....     NOW HRC regrets..... EmptyTue Jan 28, 2014 6:42 am

the loss of lives in Benghazi?...In an interview yesterday she called Benghazi one of her 'regrets'....suddenly at this point and time it does matter?...Guess when considering running for president she's developed a conscience...too bad there wasn't a need to take action at the time...as the congressional investigation revealed..it was preventable....Ms Clinton did however fail to mention anything about the cover-ups/lies/excuse that this was all about the internet video that was the official line from the administration even after knowing within 24 hours it was a terrorist attack and those responsible were named...

Of course she "regrets" Benghazi, and all the lies and attempts to cover up the truth because she knows it's going to be a problem during a campaign......

A VAST right wing conspiracy - apparently Bush parachuted into Benghazi, coerced terrorists to attack the annex and made off like a Ninja in the night. Only a matter of time until they figure out how to give him the finger on this too. Poor dude can't even retire quietly without being blamed for current events.

And you all fail to acknowledge that the ambassador on the scene was offered reinforcements at least on two occasions prior to the attacks but he declined that assistance.
He said his embassy was safe. His embassy was attacked. He was killed.

His decision led to his own death and the deaths of 3 other people.

Benghazi will not be an issue in the 2016 elections to the 75 % of Americans who aren't obsessed with it anymore.
Or in fact, were never obsessed with it, no matter how hard the Republicans have cried and cried for them to make it an obsession.

Otter, whenever that argument (Stevens refusing security) is brought up,  the HRC haters turn a blind eye to it.

It was a tragic thing and HRC detractors want people to believe that Hillary had no remorse until it became politically necessary to put on a false face of remorse.  The "what difference does it make" statement does not negate the tragedy of Benghazi, just an exasperated statement about the waste of time and money spent on a partisan witch hunt.  It wasn't going to bring Ambassador Chris Stevens or the other Americans back.

Yes, there were mistakes made by Ambassador Stevens, and administration officials, but it seems to me that we learn from past mistakes and work to prevent similar tragedies, not use it an an opportunity to roast political opponents.  Congressional hearings into the matter are overwhelmingly partisan and are conducted for purely political reasons.

When the Democrats conduct hearings, their hearings stink too.  These hearings are nothing more than showboating and grandstanding for political reasons.  They ought to outlaw Congressional hearings and make Congressmen get back to enacting legislation to benefit U.S. citizens.

No....they need to start holding folks accountable for their incompetence rather than allowing them to give Washington double speak and move on...It was anything but a partisian 'witch hunt'...At the time Sec Clinton was in charge and there was no excuse for this in the first place...We (US) controls the Embassies and we should have NEVER allowed unarmed local security to be the first line of protection at any Embassy...Perhaps there wouldn't still be a 'roasting' had those in charge shown some freakin leadership instead of lies (internet video...spontaneous protest) when they were aware from the start that this was a terrorist attack and those responsible were named...but that didn't stop members of this administration from hitting the talk show circuits and continuing to spew the company line days/weeks after knowing the truth...now if that's acceptable then any investigations or questions are not needed...As posted before pertaining to bipartisan issue...IF as rumored Speaker Boehner was briefed and had knowledge then he along with anyone else should be held accountable/responsible or at the very least give an explanation for their actions or inactions...Yes there should be lessons learned...but we've been in business with Embassy security for far too many years to allow or accept rookie mistakes like this....and the families of those murdered deserve answers...Before pronouncing sainthood on the former sec of state...she was involved in one of those
grandstanding and showboating hearings as an aide during Watergate...the question was then when did the president know and what did he know...why these same questions are now somehow less important today then they were then doesn't make sense...Because of those hearings...answers were obtained and it was found that even the POTUS was not above the law and he was removed from office in disgrace...and yet lower level cabinet officials should be held to lesser standards?...

It's easy to simplify the situation by saying A/S turned down "two offers' for additional security but apparently it's even easier to ignore the obvious fact he didn't want MILITARY security forces as offered by Gen. Hamm and in fact said he would forward specific security requests. He wanted state dept security assets - not a large military presence which makes sense.

And Eric, what kind of irresistible force would it take to get Congress to actually do their job for once? I think it will take a complete changing of the guard but that would require informed, non-partisan voters. Not very likely.

When you've got no excuse...explanation for incompetence it's easier to simply say this incident is the HRC Haters on a witch hunt...Guess the opposite side would be the HRC defenders/supports feel that she is above the law and not accountable for her role...heck Susan Rice was supposed to be the sec of state but thankfully the congress said no way...but the cowh promotes her into a position that requires no congressional approval...incompetence/lies rewarded...

I am not an HRC defender.

If you read my post again, you will see that I said mistakes were made by Stevens AND the administration.

And where did I pronounce sainthood on Clinton?  Or say ANYTHING good about her?

Congress do the job they were sent to do?  Yeah, I guess that is too much to ask.

Congressional hearings ARE political witch hunts.  I read a few articles last night about the Benghazi hearings and kept reading "sound bites" from Republican after Republican after Republican.  Not partisan? Bull hockey.

Of course it's partisan at this point; the D's desperately want the issue to go away while the R's keep demanding answers.

The Christie bridge tangle is more of a witch hunt than Benghazi - an obvious preemptive strike by D's to get him disengaged from the 2016 spotlight. On the other hand, Issa's committee is charged with doing exactly what they are doing. The committee mission statement is clear:

We exist to secure two fundamental principles. First, Americans have a right to know that the money Washington takes from them is well spent. And second, Americans deserve an efficient, effective government that works for them. Our duty on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee is to protect these rights.

Our solemn responsibility is to hold government accountable to taxpayers, because taxpayers have a right to know what they get from their government. We will work tirelessly, in partnership with citizen-watchdogs, to deliver the facts to the American people and bring genuine reform to the federal bureaucracy.

This is the mission of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee."

I'm kind of glad that someone is shining a reality light on some of the more nefarious antics going on, there is a lot of room for improvement on the Hill and the old "they all do it" argument is getting too expensive......

Witchhunt if there is nothing there!...Four dead Americans...Security threats identified and notifications made prior to the problem...This is far from a witchhunt...and are you really expecting most democrats to actually condemn or criticize HRC on any level?..Geez one of the first reactions from some were that this all started under Bush etc.,...Don't really care if anyone supports HRC or not...in this case she was wrong and she was in charge--period....If my post was read...also stated that if Speaker Boehner was involved he is just as wrong as the rest of them...There is no excuse for the incompetence and then to have some rewarded is as was posted...bull hockey....This happened on the watch of this administration and if an administration can take credit then there also has to be accountability for things that go wrong also...Finally the administration compounded the problems with the lies that they told...Just as the cowh was upset at the IRS Scandal and that "heads will roll"....a five month vacation and full retirement...not that's upset!...

And yet the Mayor of Hoboken has had her initial complaints proven to be false...but it's ok in this case because it's democrats demanding answers of a republican (kind of) governor over traffic stupidity in which two people were terminated...two more people than anyone on the national front...oh yea that's a 'witch hunt' and 'partisian'...what a joke!...

It's a witch hunt when a Republican gets in trouble and the Dems jump on it, and it is a witch hunt when a Dem gets in trouble and the Republicans jump on it.

C'mon, this is the bull crap way Congress does things.  It is a waste of time and money.

Yeah, four Americans died, and it was a tragedy.  We didn't need the hearings to get those facts for us.  Learning from the experience, one quick strike team has been deployed and another is on the way.  This is what needed to be done after a tragedy of these proportions... not use it for political gain.

And no, I do not agree that the bridge closing is a bigger topic than Benghazi.  The only reason we are talking about the bridge topic is because it is a more recent occurrence and it was juicy because it was a deliberate vindictive act of a staffer or staffers.

The Benghazi incident was not an intentional act by HRC, but I agree that mistakes were made in staffing of security.  They should have had more security even against Stevens' wishes.

Perhaps the decision to go with Stevens' wishes was one of economy, I dunno.  We certainly cannot afford to stage a regiment at every embassy in a Muslim country... and most Muslim countries are volatile, it seems.

MW, I agree that there should have been a more forthright accounting of the incident, instead of putting a spin on it (which admittedly was done for political reasons).  It was a stupid thing to do.  I mean, when dozens of militants show up firing automatic weapons and RPGs, it is pretty obvious that it wasn't a peaceful demonstration that got out of hand... DUH!

Assuming that the administration didn't deliberately endanger Ambassador Stevens, assembling a panel to find out "who knew what and when did they know it" isn't constructive... it is political vindication.  It ain't gonna change a thing, other than expose Republicans to the press so the press can televise sound bites.

Agree....it's horrible that congressional investigations are needed to get answers....maybe?...The actions you described are more than just 'stupid'....it was intentional and designed to mislead the American people...now to what level that rises to...don't know....The same intentional actions taken by those that were fired from the Christie administration...so in that case there were consequences as Christie said himself he felt betrayed...So in the case of Benghazi who were those in charge that are resonsible for the misleading statements?....Ms Rice didn't hit the talk shows on her own...It's too easy to catorgorize some as being a witch hunt and allowing the incompetent to slither away....HRC could not run one department inthe government and now she's wanting to run the entire show?...Some have said that Christie is finished because of the bridge scandal and yet HRC is held to a lower standard?...

There are accidents, breakdowns, and other things congesting the traffic almost every day on one level of the George Washington Bridge or the other, going into or out of the city. The biggest problem is the traffic and the drivers with NO manners trying to get in line. I have seen them intentionally bump other cars when they are cutting in front of them when the lane they are in is ending. I'm sure everyone has seen the inconsiderate drivers in P'Cola.. Try to imagine it a LOT worse than Davis during rush hour in the Christmas season..

I was on a bus in Manhatten once 30 years ago when a car with a deer tied on the trunk was stuck in traffic at a light. Cars closed in on all 4 sides and 2 guys got out of a pickup, cut the ropes holding the deer, and threw it in the back of the pick up and turned down one of the side streets. There was nothing the guy could do.

I have lived in Atlanta and Birmingham... cities with horrible traffic and terrible drivers.

The one time I drove through New York City, though, I was amazed at what I saw.  Extremely rude drivers.  Drivers using the break down lane like it was another lane.  Drivers crossing over onto adjacent roads down emergency access points.  If a car is six inches ahead of you in another lane, he assumes he has the right-of-way to pull into your lane.

Buncha effing jerks.  I was glad to get out of there.

You got it right when you said RUDE drivers..  I have an uncle that drives tractor trailers accross the George Washington Bridge, thru the city, and out to different places in Long Island..  He loves it and somehow has never scratched a car or his truck..  He did have a very low Lamborghini stuck under his trailer once when the idiot tried to go under his trailer at a light but other cars alongside of him wouldn't give him room to get in the other lane..  He blew his horn, other cars signaled my uncle, and another trucker got him on the CB and warned him before the light changed..  He said the worst part is nobody would stop to give the guy room..  LOL

A big problem there is people at stop lights wanting to wash your windshield for $1 or more..  A lot of them throw soapy water on your windshield and won't squeege it off unless you pay them..  SOME of them have a knife or nail sticking out of the toe of their shoe and will put a hole in your tire if you refuse their service..  The cops basically don't do anything because of other problems..

There are bums like that in Washington D.C. too.  We parked at our hotel in Crystal City and took the Metro everywhere.  I didn't feel safe driving around D.C.

Benghazi Schmenghazi, only 4 people died in Benghazi, isn't that correct?
Even if Hillary did make some mistake that helped cause it, and I don't believe she did, it doesn't come anywhere close to the thousands of young Americans who lost their lives in Iraq or Afghanistan where the Taliban takes over after we leave the area and nothing has truly changed.

Smokescreens are all the Republican party has left, really.
And Americans quit believing all those talking points several years ago.

Did anyone see the news report recently that said Roger Ailes forbade any of the women on Fox News from wearing pantsuits because he "didn't spend all that money on glass desks so they could hide their legs?"

What a creepy owner to a Faux news network.
