said in an interview that her role model for political activism and getting things done was....Jane Fonda...yup Hanoi Jane....She'd fit right in with the crowd that her husband associated with...Wright...Ayers...etc.,...

No f-ing way. She SAID that?? I was pretty ambivalent about her before, but she just tipped the scales in favor of me really disliking her. A lot. To me it doesn't matter how you feel politically about Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan (etc., etc.), our servicemen and women should always be treated with respect.
Damn, I totally thought this post was going to be about whether Obama or the taxpayers paid for her birthday vacation.

That's a quote from an interview....[People Magazine]....Can't post how I feel about Hanoi Jane because there's nothing to say that would come close to civilized...For all the role models or individuals one could admire....to slect that *&&^$%##^&*())_(&^%$#$@#!!!! is amazing....

I am right there with you, mw. I am just completely stunned that she said that... hell, that she feels that way. Un-freaking-believable. This signals to me that the Obamas are fully embracing the "f it, it's over" stage of his political career.

Not stunned at all....Look at the people and their philosophies that they've surrounded themselves with over the years...Remember the flotus wasn't really proud to be an American until the election of the cowh...guess that explains her selection of a role model...There are a couple of local establishments that have Hanoi Jane splash guards in the urinals...LOVE those places!....

I'd completely forgotten about that... good point. I guess I just never paid her much attention, but knowledge of the folks he's been around should have been an indicator. I love the urinal splash guards... nice! Not being a user of urinals I'm not completely sure what one is, but the point is that you get to piss on her, no doubt, lol.

It goes way back to her college days and before, she has an unjustified anger towards regular Americans when she herself benefited from special treatment to get into high dollar schools and then on to a "special" law firm and several other positions. Her whole life is a lie.....but then so is BHOs.

National security....could be giving gaming tips for angry birds to terorists...Again this from the administration and political party that threatened impeachment over the patriot act and the intrusion into private lives of ordinary American citizens...Again how times change quickly..politically....Remember when the 'kooks' would be laughed at...ridiculed because they claimed that the government was spying on them...yiikes who's laughing now...

It would be nice to know what the FLOTUS said. ( I wish y'all would stop with the obscure letters because I had to look up FLOTUS too). I have to assume it had to do with Jane Fonda, who has become a Christian and apologized to veterans for her activities a long time ago. She is not the same Jane Fonda as the one of the late 60's and early 70's. Her politics are far more conservative now, if anyone has bothered to keep up with her.
The woman was and is a great actress. She started out on her looks but she learned her craft and is equal to the best of them. Another great actress was Vanessa Redgrave, so is Tom Hanks, so are many American celebrities who have made political statements over the years. What she did in Vietnam was wrong. She should have kept her comments here in the US and not gone over and rode that tank. On the other hand, she is a private citizen and had every right to do so. It was a stupid mistake and she admitted that. It's way past time to stop thinking about Jane Fonda, who has changed, and worry more about our basketball stars who are kissing up to the North Korean leadership.

Okay, here's the worst that Michelle Obama said. I know it's the worst because it's from Conservative byte.com.
First Lady Michelle Obama says Jane Fonda is one of her role models, and that she admires her political savviness.
During an interview with People Magazine, Obama listed “Hanoi Jane” as one of the people she would like to look and live like when she’s “70 or 80″ years old.
“There’s Jane Fonda, a beautiful, engaged, politically savvy, sharp woman,” Obama said.

______________ The discussion in the magazine was about older people (she mentioned Cecely Tyson as well) that the first lady would like to look like and "live like" when she became their age. Her comment was that Fonda is Beautiful (true enough), engaged (very true) politically savvy (not so much in her younger years, but perhaps now) sharp woman (ain't nobody ever said she was stupid, though she may have done some things in her 20's that weren't too bright.) The first lady is speaking about Jane Fonda in her 70's and 80's, not 40 years ago.
Take it as you like it, but the statement is nothing to make most people fall over and faint from.

BTW, Jane Fonda said that what she did was an "unforgivable mistake."
I guess that's why none of you will ever be able to forgive her. You must agree with her.
No matter about all that "forgiveness" and "redemption" stuff that's preached from the pulpits of the religion she joined.
She's a disgusting $%&&^())&*^%$#@# and if those that served or had famility members that served in Vietnam doubt she's high on their role model list...not to mention those thousands that have family members names on the Vietnam Memorial...May she rot!.....
So there's no truth to the rumor that she was wearing a Ho Chi Minh tee shirt underneath her outfit when she portrayed Nancy Reagan in "The Butler"?

There ain't enough tequila that could get me to watch that $&^((&%#!$^&()!....Saw the trailer for the movie and the producers wisely cut that #%**&^%@^()_*%'s part out....Bad enough during the [not so] super bowl had to endure the message from the flotus and the slotus heaping praise on the military and how they supported all those that have served...and are serving....and yet veterans are getting the short end of the stick (cuts) so pretty much the words were for publicity and very hollow...threw up a little in the back of my throat watching....
