| Is that your pup, Jake?
Darling, just adorable. Here Mel and I were trying to hook you up with a cheater!
Apologies!
You certainly look like a good doggie daddy! | |

| When we went to Hardees, the pictures didn't seem to load. Turns out, we probably weren't waiting long enough for them to load. Unfortunately, if I remember correctly, Gizmo is no longer with us. We had a sheltie-looking dog that passed about the same time and her name was Lassie (I know... real original). After getting on top of the dining room table and eating a large bag of Oreos... and subsequently barfing 'em up all over the house, Lassie became an outside dog. Houdini dog, we called her... she could get out of anywhere. She ate through a solid core door in one particular lightning storm. | |

| Gizmo was my Sheltie from 86-95.. IF I wasn't at sea, I had him, but mom and dad kept him when I was gone on my submarines until 91, then I couldn't take him back from mom and dad, but I saw him a few times a week.. He was the smartest 4 legged friend I ever had and also my best friend... He was attacked by a chow in 92 and kept getting cancer after that.. After 3 surgeries, the vet said he would have to amputate his tail and left rear leg, so we decided to let him live out his life at home.. The last time I saw him, I was on the floor petting him and talking to him and he looked at me, licked my hand, put his head down and died. When I picked him up, there was a heart shaped blood stain on the sheet where he was.. That sheet was NEVER washed again.. He's buried under a magnolia bush in mom and dad's back yard.. I'm going to go mow thier lawn in a little while and I'm sure I'll stop to talk with him a few minutes and he'll rustle the small branches a little to show me that he still remembers the fun we had and misses me as much as I miss him.. I have lots and lots of Gizmo stories from phone calls, to fireworks near the wall south, to the Christmas lights at Saint Anne's church, to him grabbing the leash off of the wall to take me for walks around the block....

So sorry, Jake. They remain with us forever.
