Forgive my thoughts here Empty
PostSubject: Forgive my thoughts here   Forgive my thoughts here EmptySat Sep 07, 2013 1:01 pm

I felt 3 years ago that we were headed for WWIII.  Gumbo in the mideast and beyond just scares me to death. who is the enemy?  Seriously, who is the enemy?  I felt this way about Egypt.  Yeah, we gained a lot there for our dollar.Sad

It's not like the Reagan years when nobody would "f" with us.

We are not the power that we once were.  Our finances are a shambles and we continue to stretch ourselves too thin.

What does a business do in that situation?  We access our losses and drop those that have no profit potential.

Business can be cruel, but it also endures.  I just hope we, as a country can survive this jack mule.

We just are not the superpower that we all like to think that we are.

Hopefully, we can change that with the future elections, but I do fear.

When too many people don't vote or those that do don't follow the issues to make an informed decision, the system gets weaker. Voters don't hold the elected ones accountable. Apathy is killing this country more than anything.

I'm trying to figure out why Obama is so intent on this issue.  The cynic in me believes there's something playing behind the scenes.  Anyone got ideas on what it might be?

Again, I like Rand Paul who has a petition going:

Whereas: Our military would be joining the same side of this civil war as al Qaeda. We cannot be sure who among the Syrian rebels are potential allies, and we know many of them are Islamic militants.

*** Whereas: The hundreds of thousands of Christians in Syria would be in even more danger if the extremist rebels were to take over Syria.

*** Whereas: There is no real military goal and no clear sense of what victory is. Without that, our military should never be asked to risk their lives.

Think about past comments about Iraq from the cowh....biden...kerry and many others....sure A LOT different now under these circumstances....When the kurds were murdered by chemical weapons under sadaam some of these same people stated that didn't rise to the level for military actions---now it does?.....The cowh has painted himself into a lose/lose situation even though he's denied the 'red line' rhetoric...there are many new articles that are concerned about the credibility of the United States....nope it's the lack of credibility of the current administration....One hit the nail on the head calling this administration...."Amatuer Hour"....

I preferred the isolationist views of our country in earlier times (early twentieth century and before).  Our first coin was a penny that was inscribed with "Mind your own business".  That just about sums it up for me.

Having a strong military is one thing, but to use military force to meddle throughout the world is counterproductive.  It creates enemies and is extremely costly.  And because we are withdrawing from Afghanistan, have withdrawn from Iraq, hastily evacuated from Somalia, withdrew from Vietnam, and stalemated in Korea, we are proving to potential enemies that we are not as strong of an opponent as we appear to be.

I'd rather that the world sees us as the 800 lb. gorilla in the room... one that appears docile enough... and one that they don't want to disturb.

And the policy should be....hit us we will HIT back...allow the best military in the world to do ther jobs...no occupations or nation building....always like the philosophy of speaking softly and carrying a BIG stick...

Our military has become a political tool for unwashed politicians - many of whom have never served in the military. Initiating another unpopular military situation in Syria is the last thing this country needs. Our military should be used only in situations requiring defense of our own interests - not the interests of a country being supported by Russia and Iran. Why is BHO so exercised about the 1400 or so deaths caused by whoever used the chemical weapons - and not by the +100K or so "conventional" deaths in Syria? Dead is dead.
